General Society of the Sons of the Revolution Membership Badge, 14 karat gold and enamels by Bailey, Banks, & Biddle of Philadelphia, 3.25" long including the ribbon. The medal is marked on the verso, "BAILEY, BANKS, & BIDDLE CO. PHILA" and engraved with a membership number only "3234". The medal is on a split wrap brooch. Excellent condition.

The Sons of the Revolution was founded in 1876, primarily by leading members of the Society of the Cincinnati. The founders disagreed with Society of the Cincinnati requirements limiting membership to the eldest male descendants based on the rules of primogeniture. It was intended to have Sons of the Revolution include members by recognizing any descendant of a revolutionary ancestor.
